Finished Stocking # 1

I finished my first of three stockings:

I used the Knitpicks Twirl Top Stocking pattern with the recommended yarn. It was the first time I ever used the magic loop method. I love the stocking and the pattern was simple and quick but I really should have gone up a needle size or two. I figure it's ok though since the green ones are for the grown-ups. I'll make sure the red one is nice and big for plenty of kid sized treats!

The stocking looks great Nancy! Nice work!

Be cautious going up too many needle sizes because you want to be sure your stocking is tightly knit to hold all of those goodies. Too loose of gauge will make the fabric more stretchy.

If you want a bigger stocking, why not just cast on some extra stitches and add a few more rows in before starting the heel?

You bring up a good point about keeping it tightly knit. I do tend to have to go a needle up to get gauge but I didn't bother checking on this since it didn't matter much. I was planning on adding a few stitches to the next one to see how if it helped.
